A key food manufacturer needed to analyse what effect a major re-structuring of manufacturing costs would have on their accounts.
IMS was asked to assist with implementing Dual Routes on their Bill of Materials. This allowed the business to experiment with alternative costs. IMS also developed various utilities to both upload and globally change data on their current BOM’s. Once extensive testing was completed, these new manufacturing costs were uploaded into the system.
The new costs now accurately represent the current business costs and allow detailed examination by senior management to aide more informed decision making. This exercise also highlighted other weaknesses in the maintenance of key business data, which are now being addressed separately.
