Ratcliff Palfinger met with Integrated Management Solutions (Global) Ltd regularly to discuss key problems the company were facing with the current systems in place. They requested Integrated Management Solutions (Global) Ltd to investigate ways to improve to their stock booking system.
The Problem:
The business was going well and Ratcliff Palfinger were receiving too much stock for staff to manually book in. Staff simply could not keep pace with the volumes they were experiencing. This caused stock to get backlogged and this in turn made stock difficult to find. The existing system was heavily paper-based with time spent filling out administration forms and processing data. Because the process involved a lot of paperwork this in turn produced clerical errors which caused confusion when checking stock levels and visibility on the system. There was a single source of input on site, used to centrally book stock onto the system, and as stock was constantly being checked in at different areas of the large site, this meant that there was often a long delay before paperwork was delivered to the point of input. These delays caused further confusion to stock levels and visibility.
The Solution:
Taking into account the amount of time Ratcliff were taking to complete their booking process, it was evident that the most effective solution would be to introduce scanners to the company and implement a bespoke solution that would tackle all the problems being faced. Integrated Management Solutions (Global) Ltd created an extra feature within the solution to allow Ratcliff to identify stock locations when scanning paperwork onto the system. This approach reduce confusion and increased the efficient and timely organisation of stock. This bespoke feature also instigated a prompt that appeared on screen if a particular part being scanned needed attention or inspection.
