Case Study: The System Audit
Background
Established in 1948 as part of Westland Engineers Ltd, Garador Limited is one of the UK’s leading garage door manufacturers, producing Up and Over, Side-hinged, Sectional and GaraRoll roller garage doors from their multi-million pound manufacturing facility in Yeovil.
The Requirement
Garador use a unique ERP system called BRAIN, an Infor product which was initially developed by a German software company. As such, all the comments and field descriptions within the programs were in German. Bespoke development had also been carried out by the previous technical support company. The business required a full technical audit of the system followed by support services, as well as assistance fixing existing technical issues which had caused operational disruption.
The Solution
The IMS specialistswere able to dedicate a developer to work solely on the Garador system, conducting a full investigative technical audit which included exploration and documentation of the full system, including:
- Exploration of the test system
- Program library and file menu mapping
- Deciphering the German commentary
- Fixes for 3rd party system integration
- Correcting issues within the purchase order process
- Implementation of fixes developed by previous support company.
Outcome
IMS were able to successfully complete a technical audit of the Garador BRAIN ERP system, as well as develop and implement solutions for various technical issues.
